What are my obligations with regard to water hygiene?

You have a duty of care to everyone in the vicinity of your building. A death resulting from negligence in controlling the risk from your water supply can result in a conviction for corporate manslaughter. You can find a full list of your duties on the HSE website here.

What are the standards that I need to know about?

Any of the following could apply to you: Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974, ACOP L8, BS8550:2010, BISRIA BG29/2012, Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, Private Water Supplies Regulations 2009. We will advise you as to the standards and guidelines you need to adhere to.

How often do I need my water supply tested?

Legionella risk assessments are carried out every two years with an annual review. Most of our service contracts run on a monthly or quarterly basis and include hygiene assessment.

What assurances do you provide?

We will supply you with all the necessary documents you need for compliance with the regulations. You will be able to download these from the secure Client Area.
